Field Service Technician (Des Moines)

The Field Technician is responsible for commercial packaging equipment installation and technical support of product lines, as well as maintaining good customer relations. Will investigate and resolve customer reports of technical issues with equipment, and eliminate future operational or service difficulties for customers. Due to our customers' needs, priorities will change based on customer situations so individuals must be able to adapt to ever-changing work schedules and priorities.

Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 90% of the time. Normal business hours are 8: 00am to 5: 00pm. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate customers' schedules. Willing to work outside normal business hours as job dictates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

1 Communicate with scheduler on a daily basis, give updates on current jobs status and receive additional job assignments. Maintain records of quality and quantity of work on equipment. Retrieves and responds to messages daily on all communication tools.

1 Consistently makes travel arrangements within company policy guidelines. Keeps service team members and customers informed of arrival times. Travel arrangement will include hotel, car rental and airline flights.

1 Installs and/or repairs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality, according to specifications, in a timely manner. At completion of installation, all technical documentation will be provided to the regional scheduler.

1 Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment in a reasonable amount of time. Provides a communication link with the customer to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.

1 Conduct training for customers on the safe operations of equipment, maintenance, parts ordering and safety issues of equipment, to follow specified procedures for safety instruction. Provide contact information for service team for future service needs and parts needs. Ensure the customers are comfortable with operational and safety procedures of their equipment.

1 Completes service documentation on what was repaired during the service call and submit related expenses for the trip and time spent on the call. Reports are complete, accurate and submitted within one week of site departure. Weekly expense reports and time sheets are also completed in an accurate and timely manner. All expenses incurred are handled in a cost-effective manner.
