Duties and Responsibilities

* Plans production operations and raw material inventories in cooperation with the Production Planning & Inventory Control Manager to establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to meet customer expectations.
* Responsible for hiring and training new employees and retraining current employees. Resolves personnel issues within Unit and in accord with the Plant Manager.
* Routinely inspects production equipment and facilities for operational readiness. Works with the Maintenance Dept. To ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization of equipment.
* Will conduct process engineering studies to reduce costs, improve product quality and optimize equipment selection and utilization throughout the facility.
* Directly supervises up to 5 employees
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable local, state and federal laws.
* Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Qualifications

Must have an understanding of chemical properties and the safety hazards created by mixing/blending/handling/transporting of chemicals. Need to recognize unsafe acts or conditions and be able to make decisions to eliminate the unsafe acts or conditions.

Working knowledge of cGMP and food grade manufacturing environment.


* B.S. Chemical Engineering
* 3+ years' experience in a chemical plant production environment
