The Linux Administrator is responsible for effective system design, implementation, and management of Linux systems. Tasking will also focus on hands-on provisioning of services, monitoring, upgrading hardware and software, configuration management, and understanding and maintaining peripheral services and software. Responsibilities on these systems include support, maintenance, and research & development to ensure continual operation. The ideal individual will also provide mentoring and knowledge sharing with team members to ensure continuity of knowledge & staff development.


* Manage performance of Level 1 and Level 2 support
* Manage security, including basic firewalls
* Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes
* Provide technical support for server-based systems & environment as a whole
* Provide technical support for virtualization & shared storage environments
* Responsible for meeting requirements of Service Level Agreements
* Manage users and groups, including centralized directory for authentication
* Deploy, configure, & maintain systems, including software installation, & update
* Perform booting into different run levels, identifying processes, & controlling services


A) Knowledge/Skill/Ability

* Advanced experience with RPMWare, Redhat, VMWare 5.0
* Experience with virtual servers, securing & stabilizing environment
* Experience handling files, directories, & command-line environments
* Advanced documentation skills and communication skills
* Proficient in tasks such as shell scripting, analyzing log files, etc.

B) Education/Experience

* Two+ years of system administration experience in Linux environments
* Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in information technology, related field, or related experience
* Relevant Certifications

* Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
